Volunteer Recruitment Specialist for Faith-Based Content Contributors

Are you a dedicated and passionate individual with a heart for faith, spirituality, and community engagement? Do you possess exceptional communication skills and a knack for bringing together talented individuals to contribute their unique perspectives? If so, we have an exciting volunteer opportunity that aligns with your values and interests – Recruitment Specialist for Faith-Based Content Contributors.

About Us:

A Faith That Does Justice (AFTDJ) is an interfaith organization that challenges people to experience God by living their faith intentionally in service to others. We do this by showing how unjust societal structures marginalize people and by acting to help those in need.

As a Volunteer Recruitment Specialist for Faith-Based Content Contributors, you will play a crucial role in shaping the content published in our Weekly Word, blog stories, and spiritual reflections. Your work will help us illuminate how people of faith understand and respond to social justice issues. Your responsibilities will include:

Key Responsibilities
  • Talent Scouting: Identify and engage writers, clergy, bloggers, justice advocates, spiritual leaders, and content creators whose work aligns with our mission. Utilize high-level sourcing tactics such as reviewing publicly available sermons, blog posts, and talks; exploring academic and multifaith communities; and monitoring social-justice communications from mission-aligned organizations. • Look for both established voices and emerging contributors whose experiences reflect “faith in action.”
  • Community Building: Cultivate relationships with faith communities, seminaries, social-justice organizations, and individual volunteers to expand a diverse contributor network. Maintain a simple, ongoing list of potential contributors and content ideas to support the editorial team.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with AFTDJ’s editorial team to ensure submissions reflect our values and follow editorial guidelines. Recommend content themes, series ideas, or individuals whose perspectives could enrich future Weekly Word editions and blog posts.
  • Support and Guidance: Provide light-touch support to prospective contributors—sharing guidelines, offering topic prompts, and helping them understand AFTDJ’s action-oriented, interfaith approach to social justice. Encourage contributors to adapt existing material (such as sermons or reflections), lowering barriers to participation.
  • Promotion: Assist in sharing and amplifying published pieces to strengthen visibility, readership, and contributor engagement. Strengthen long-term relationships with contributors by following up when their pieces are published and inviting future participation.
Qualifications
  • Passion for faith, spirituality, and the power of storytelling.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Enthusiasm for volunteer work and community engagement.
  • Experience with contributor outreach, recruitment, or talent scouting is a plus but not required.
  • Commitment to fostering inclusivity and respect for diverse faith perspectives.
What We Offer
  • An opportunity to make a meaningful impact by strengthening the voices and stories that shape our community.
  • The chance to develop and showcase your skills in a collaborative, values-driven environment.
  • Flexible volunteer hours tailored to your schedule.
  • The satisfaction of helping AFTDJ inspire individuals to live their faith in action.
