Tom Dwyer
Tom Dwyer is a Director and the President of A Faith That Does Justice. Tom has been active in the St. Vincent de Paul Society (SVdP) for nearly 30 years, including serving as the National Chair of its Voice for the Poor Program, its advocacy arm, and its Neighbors-in-Need program providing direct financial support, guidance and friendship. He also volunteered in numerous other capacities, ranging from a tutor in a literacy program to a church marriage preparation facilitator along with his wife of 54 years, Mary Dwyer.
Tom spent his professional career largely in CEO positions as town manager of two different communities, and then leading a large not-for-profit insurance pool and risk management company for municipalities and school districts. Other work experience included serving as a newspaper reporter for a metropolitan daily, a governmental researcher, and a consultant.
Tom and Mary have three daughters and six grandchildren. He enjoys world-wide travel to new cultures, swimming, reading, game-playing, and, at one time, golf.
Tom holds an undergraduate degree in English from Boston College and a Masters in Public Administration from the University of Hartford.
